Q&A for new LinkedIn Learning course for Cisco DevNet Associate Cert Prep 1

I am excited about the newly released course on LinkedIn Learning titled 'Cisco DevNet Associate Cert Prep 1: Software Development and Design':

I thought it might be a good idea to write a Q&A blog about the course, so here it is.

Q. Why was the cert prep 1 course released AFTER Cisco DevNet ASsociate Cert Prep 2: Understanding and Using APIs?

The learning path course numbering follows the published Cisco DevNet Exam topics, so API came after software development and design in the numbering. However, personally I think getting started with API would be more relevant and engaging for network engineers. So after discussing this with LinkedIn Learning content manager, we agreed to publish the API course prior to the Software Development and Design course. But don't worry, the rest of the courses will be released in the same sequence as the exam topics.

Q. Will I be able to pass the Cisco DevNet Associate Exam v1.0 (200-901) after studying this course?

Not quite, as you can see from the exam topics, the course covers about 15% of the overall topics. However, I hope the course does a good job of covering that 15% of the topics.

Q. How soon will the rest of the courses in this learning path be released?

Soon, I hope. The making of the courses is already in motion and hopefully, they will be released soon.

Q. How is the course structured?

The course follows the published exam topics from Cisco. They are broken into data formats, test-driven development, software development methods, reusable code, common design patterns, and version control. The course uses mainly Python for demonstration, as recommended by Cisco.

Q. Who is the course for?

The course is mainly for network engineers who are interested in the topics of software development and design. Of course, anybody interested in the contents is more than welcome to join.

Q. What if you do not intend on taking the exam?

I often take online training for the purpose of learning, even if the course is meant to prepare the students for a particular exam. For example, I have taken multiple preparation courses for Google Cloud certifications but never sat for the exams. I hope you can join me on this learning path even if your intention is not to sit for the exam.

Q. How can I take the course?

The course is on both LinkedIn Learning and Lynda.com.

That is it for now if there are questions that I did not address above please let me know in the comments below. I hope you give this course a shot and let me know your honest opinion.

Happy coding,
